I am looking for any information relating to the service of Lance Sergeant Robert Oliver Townsend, s/n 5670050 , Died 04/10/1943, aged 28; 30th Bn. Somerset Light Infantry and No. 6 Commando. Son of Frederick William and Nellie Townsend, of Saltley, Birmingham. The headstone on his grave shows "Formerly No 6 Commando."

No 6 Cdo had been out in North Africa for Operation Torch but by the time of his death they were back in the UK. So anything aboute when he became a casualty would be of help. I have seen other sites saying he had died of wounds.
