New memorial for Lt Col Charles Newman VC, OBE  XML

Stewart May has informed us about a new memorial dedicated to Lieutenant Colonel Augustus Charles Newman VC, OBE, TD, DL which will be unveiled in the grounds of St Peter's Church, Sandwich, Kent. CT13 9DA on 26th April 2018.
Lt Col Charles Newman won his VC at St Nazaire commanding No.2 Commando.

More details as I get them...

The St. Nazaire Society are aware of this event. David Tait, their public relations officer, has advised me of the following information which has been provided to him:

Retired photographer Stewart May has organised for a plaque and citation to be erected in memory of Colonel Charles.
The event will be taking place on 26th April 2018 (coinciding with the date of his death) at 11am, at St Peters Church, Market St, Sandwich CT13 9DA.
Parking in main car park: Cattle Market, Sandwich CT13 9AP.

I have been in contact with the 'Parade Marshall to the Mayor of Sandwich', Mr Simon Leith. I understand that attendance to the ceremony will be by invitation only. Should you wish to attend, please would you contact Mr Leith requesting an invitation.
