Hi,

Here are a few photos of my father before during and after WW2.

My father Warwick Nield-Siddall British Royal Marine served with Royal Marines in Malta, 1941-1943; served with 41 Commando, Royal Marines in GB and North West Europe, 1943-1944. Took part in D-DAY Landings and Liberation of Walcheren. Also spent some time in Kong Kong.

You can hear and audio Interview with the Imperial War Museum here http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/80018279 my father talks about most of his experiences leading up to, during and after WW2. Really interesting graphic account of D-Day landings and more.

Hi and thank you for posting the photos and the recording. The IWM recordings are a fantastic resource and do give a good insight into the recollections of those who served. I would like to add a selection of the Commando images from your Fathers collection to our gallery for 41RM Commando. However we do have to credit them so would you please advise me of your full name. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Would be great if you could add those to 41 section. My father would have been 95 on 2nd Nov.

My full name is Jeremy Nield-Siddall

Thanks and best wishes

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy

Thank you. I have now added some of the photos to the gallery relevant to his time in 41RM Commando. They are located in the 41RM Commando gallery. You will note the individual ones are in a sub album in his name, the others in the main album. Here is a link to the main 41 RM Commando album:

http://gallery.commandoveterans.org/cdoGallery/v/units/Royal+Marine+Commando+Units/41+RM+Commando/

If you advise me of his date of birth and death, I will add that to our website.

Finally in one of the photos if I am right he is shown with Cpl stripes. Can you confirm his final rank attained. Also you may wish to register on the gallery and post a comment against any photos to show precisely where he is on each.
