Whilst we have a good deal of information on Pte. Mather, I am looking for a POW number and official source reference to his being taken POW. Click on 'View Here' below to see what we already have.

3960750 Private James Henry Mather [View Here]
Welch Regiment and No.50 Middle East Commando
who died on 26/8/1945 aged 26
Remembered with honour at Newton Willows Cemetery.

Pete Rogers, son of LSgt Joe Rogers MM & nephew of TSM Ken McAllister. Both No2 Commando.

Extract from WO392/1 - British Army POWs held in Germany.

The first column indicates the camp in which he was held - Stalag 4C Wistritz, bei Teplice [the camp can be identified as a Stalag as there is no prefix letter before the 4]
The second column is the PoW number.
The seventh column is the code allocated to the Records Office - 22 = Infantry Record Office, Exeter.

Thanks Nick.

I have updated our ROH page for him with that information. His brother also died in the war. Follow this link for our entry:
