My Dad ....RWF Renshaw

My Dad died a year ago and I'm trying to piece together his wartime service of which he spoke little of. I think he maybe started out in 6 commando and possibly did boat training ? 101 troop. He had green and red beret and we think was in Brittany ?? With free french sas. Dec 44 went to Burma and came out of army 48. If anyone has access to any commando records or has info or how to get info I'd be very grateful. Thanks and look forward to hearing from anyone.

Welcome to the CVA Website and Forums.
We do not hold, or have access to WWII Service Records - nor do any commercial, online websites (even though they may claim to...).
The only custodian of WWII Service Records is the MoD.
However, you family may apply for them. There is a search fee of £30 (which is waived if your mother applies for them) and you need the consent of the immediate next of kin plus the death certificate.

Below are the links to the two forms you will need - they are fairly simple but please feel free to shout out if you get stuck. You will receive a scan of the original, handwritten service record - again please ask if you need any assistance in deciphering the Army jargon, abbreviations and acronyms...

Once you have confirmed that your father was in The Commandos, we'd appreciate it if you can let us know so we can add him to the relevant Nominal Roll.
in the meantime, do you have any contemporary photos of your father in uniform at all?

Out of interest what was your Father's full name ?
