At Carricknowe Golf Course in Edinburgh there is a plaque to this brave man. Does anyone know who commissioned the plaque, the significance of the location, and why it is not cleaned?

Hello!

If you haven't already done so - if you put his name in the Custom Search at the top, you'll find out about him - where he was from etc. A very brave young man, indeed.

If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.

He grew up in that area and went to school nearby but not sure of the golf plaque origins. Have you asked the club?
