Fund Raising Idea......Geoff (Sec) & Members

Hi Geoff and all
Just a thought. Like all associations we need to raise cash

I have had his idea for some time so I'll throw it out to you honorable members.

CVA 1st Day covers celebrating various Commando actions etc.

We could start with say the VC winners commemorating the anniversary of the action. We could do say one per year and have them for sale on this site and at FW gathering news letter Etc. We could keep them Limited Editions in small runs and this would add to the value of them.

They would have to be official CVA issues to give them clout.

There are many out there who would collect these exclusive items not only former Cdo's and families but 1st day cover collectors in general + militaria collectors.

What do you think?

Excellent idea about First day Covers
Ive been collecting interesting ones for years Have two albums full including some on the St Nazaire raid and the Burma Star

John, aplogies for not replying to this sooner. Great idea, one which would again assist in taking our history forward. We can put this on the table at the AGM in November firstly to get the vote on the idea, and also for the initial funding of it, although I am sure it will pay for itself quite quickly! We would have to vote in a member responsible for this (any ideas JOHN!). We could start putting some ideas together now for what we can include in each edition; VC winners sounds perfect to start.
