It is with much sadness that we advise you of the death last month on the 7th July 2016 of Eric Roy Westley, MC and bar, who served with the temporary rank of Captain in No 3 Commando. He had been promoted full Captain on the 1st July 1947. Capt Westley was in command of 3 troop during the attack on Le Plein, Normandy, where he was wounded in the hand, but rejoined the troop immediately after medical treatment in the field. The recipient of two Military Crosses for gallant and distinguished services, he later resigned his commission on the 26th March 1951. Our condolences to his son James and all his family and friends.
Rest in peace Eric.

God and the Soldier, all men adore, In time of danger and not before.
When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
