I am trying to answer a question put to me by a friend in France.

Does anyone know what sort of medical or first aid equipment was a TYSOLET?

In National Archives WO 218/167 is a report "Military Operation Order Hardtack 23" which lists under "The following stores will be carried by a Medical Orderly who will remain in the M.T.B."

1 Tysolet

I imagine it may have been a proprietary name for a wound dressing, or tourniquet, or something of this nature.

Can anyone help elucidate?

Many thanks

Hi Noel, could it be Tycolet which is an analgesic or pain killer.

Thanks Pete,

I found TYCOLET when I googled, but on checking further, I found that it is an American analgesic which was introduced only in 1986. It appears that morphine (tablets and injections) were carried on these raids as analgesics.
