Does anyone know anything about Benbecula having been used for landing training for early commandos please - before the main commando training was set up.
There was training done in a lot of places including Benbecula and not just by Commandos. RAF Coastal Command also operated from there. Prior to 1942 they built access bridges across some of the rivers for the new air base. There's at least one reference on this site of a chap from No 4 Commando having spent time there.
Pete Rogers, son of LSgt Joe Rogers MM & nephew of TSM Ken McAllister. Both No2 Commando.
