It is with much sadness that we advise you of the death last night of Dougie Roderick, No 3 Commando, Father of our own Sylvie Townshend who passed away only 4 months past, and Grandfather to Tarnia. Dougie passed away peacefully at home which is what he wanted. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Tarnia, the death of her Grandad coming so soon after that of her Mum, and of course our thoughts and prayers are with her and all of the family at the this time.

Rest in peace Dougie

I'm so glad I had the honour of meeting Mr Roderick a couple of times. A lovely man.

My thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.

If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.

Tarnia has contacted me with the funeral arrangements which are outlined below :

The funeral will be on Thursday 18th February at 2pm at West Norwood Cemetery (Postcode SE27 9JU). All are welcome. Family will do flowers and we ask that others make donations if they wish - all monies will be split between the CVA and St Christopher's Hospice. As yet we are not sure of a venue for the Wake but I will post that later when it has been finalised. It would be useful to know rough numbers so it would be helpful if anyone intending to attend could message me on Facebook or send me an email to this address.
