Vaagso Museum - Ann Povey - Jones has been in contact. Her Father was kia in Vaagso on 27/12/41 L/Sgt Harold Thomas Andrew Povey of No 3 Army Commando. The Norwegians are opening a Museum in Vaagso. Ann says that there is a model that was used to plan the raid in Achnacarry Cameron Museum and wonders if anyone knows of plans made to produce this model? The Norwegians would like to have a copy of this in the Museum. Also does anyone have photos of those who were kia (PM me about this).
If you can help get in touch with me.

The model would, almost certainly, have been made by the RAF Model Section, Central Interpretation Centre, RAF Medmenham, Buckinghamshire - which has long ceased to exist!
The scale models would have been made based on Photo Reconnaissance imagery and Intelligence reports and would have been extremely detailed.
I'm sure both the model, and any plans, would have been destroyed if not before the raid then soon after.
The only thing I could suggest - and although I do think it's possible, I don't know if the costs would be too much for the Norwegians - is to take a 3D scan of the model in the Cameron Museum them print a 3D model from the scan.
It is very modern technology and it would be an amazing project - but for a professional with specialist equipment.

I have in my collection an Original London Gazette supplement dated 2nd July 1948.
Raid on Military and economic objectives in the vicinity of Vaagso Island
Which is complete and intact with maps and operational statistics etc
I would willingly donate this to the Norwegian Museum if they would like it.
Let me know.
