Hi I am looking for anybody who knows anything of my grandfather Frank Bellamy. He served with the duke of wellington and we believe he may have been the duke's batman. He started off in the royal artillery and transfered to the commandos. We know he fought in salerno and all the way up to holland. He spoke of sicily and yugoslavia also. There is a photograph in the gallery of his troop and we are sure it is him as it says gnr bellamy and it looks just like him. We are currently in the mids of getting his service records.

Any information would be great.

Many thanks inadvance

I hope you find lots of information. My dad, No.4, volunteered for No.2 and fought with the Duke of Wellington on the Pimple, too.

If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.

Thank you.

I have found a book which is called something like the true story of the commandos. It has a veteran who states he remembered the Duke and that his batman was Tommy Toombs. Its unfortunate to find this. Even on the nominal roll the only Bellamy is a an R.W and he was a gunner also. This is so frustrating.

I really do hope someone out there knows something.
