Hi
I am look for information on my Grandad...
His name is Walter William Coggins, or Bill Coggins - from Bristol
I only have some really sketchy information I am afraid as he is now dead and did not talk about his time in ww2
I have been told he was in the RM commandos, in WW2, that he trained/based in Troon, Scotland - he may have been involved in the liberation of Jersey?
I know its not much to go on - sorry, I cannot find anything out on the normal sites so hoped someone here might be able to help - point me in right direction..
Thanks in advace

Hello Lee
Thanks for posting your request.
The first action I would advise is to apply for your GD's service record.
Follow this link where how to apply is fully explained and you can download the relevant forms.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records
Also have you asked other members of your family for what info they might have ? Even little snippets can help complete the picture.
As you say you have not much to go on but hopefully we can help you to find out more.
Best regards
