It is with great sadness that I have to let you know of the death on the 6th October of Gwyn Jones of No 4 Army Commando aged 96. Our thoughts are with his brother, son and daughters and family. God bless.

RIP Mr Jones - thank you.

If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.

The photo of Gwyn below is in our gallery provided by his grandson Matthew. Gwyn fought at Walcheren and was wounded on D Day. Gwyn's pals included Bill Harvey, Norman Lewis, Alec Morris, Jimmy White and Sgt Ted Lewis. After the War, Gwyn served as Chairman of his local branch of the Royal British Legion for over 30 years.

Rest in peace Gwyn
