Remembering all soldiers who lost their lives in operations, or as prisoners of war, or as a result of sickness, in the Far East in WW2

Personally, I think we should never forgive nor foget the atrocities committed by the Japanese not only during the war but by far worse in Manturia, and Nanking in particular, just Google The Rape of Nanking and judge for yourself. My father hated them for what they had done to his troops whilst out on patrols.
They have not and will not admit to these atrocities, as could be seen on the BBC evening news tonight.
Just my personal feelings and thoughts.

I have just watched an excellent programme on BBC2 Scotland called VJ Heroes - Scotland's Jungle War. With accounts from Veterans who served and good archived film footage it is a powerful reminder as to what occurred in the Far East at that time. My uncle was a prisoner of war over there after Singapore fell. He survived the horrors thankfully unlike the thousands who are buried there, or those 24,000 names of men who have no known grave listed on the memorial at Kranji

Highly recommended if you can watch it on catch up or I player.

For anybody who wants to read about the scale and shear horror of the Japanese War crimes the book :

The Knights of Bushido
by Lord Russell of Liverpool
Cassell 1958

has the complete story.

I could not get past the second chapter......it is so harrowing even in written form.

My dad fought in Burma......but never spoke of it at all.

The Royal British Legion put this together, they asked several people to read out what happened during the war with Japan. Well worth a watch.

Thanks for posting this. I have corrected the link which was not working. A very good video.
