Our friend, CVA member, John Mewitt, has kindly emailed a copy of today's 'Times' published obituary of Dr. Paton, who passed away on July 10th, 2008, aged 95.

I would like to share this memory of a very good medical officer as published with the other readers of this Forum.

As I wrote in the Brief History of No. 2 Commando, the arrival of Dr. Paton in Ayr in March, 1942, tipped us off that something big was scheduled for us as we already had one M.O., Capt. Mike Barling. The thoughtful provision of two doctors was more than justified in the events of March 27 - 28 at St. Nazaire.

The veterans of No. 2 will no doubt have satisfaction that the good doctor had a long and productive life after his service, and extend our condolences to his sons and daughters.

Geoff - could you please add Capt. David Paton No. 2 Commando to the
Commando Obituaries when you have a chance.

Thanks
