Thanks for posting this John. It is shameful of Witney Council to let it get to this stage and make such threats. The matter could have been dealt with far better. Reading the local Gazette online, the eviction threat remains, although a stay of 'execution' has been put in place as some work has been done. I have signed and hope others do. David Cameron's constituency so complain to his office and the local Councillors as well. I have done. Details of all the Counciillors can be found on the Witney Council website.
The local Gazette are involved but let's get as many complaints in as possible.

On the above link read the words of Councillor Killick about it being a level playing field. I always thought people should be treated according to their needs, with maybe some additional thought for those in their 90s.

Thanks Pete
Yes it's a disgrace. I think as you say it may be sorted a bit better for Pat now.
I think his fellow allotment community have come to his help.
Pat is lovely guy out of the old Commando mold..... and I wish him well in this battle.
Thanks for signing Pete.

It would seem that Witney Allotment Association have now backed down and Pat Churchill may keep his plot.

The Mayor has been in touch with me and states that they were shocked when they heard the news only very recently. Pat is so well respected and known by them all. If you wish to register your views to Witney Allotment Association on how they dealt with this, post a comment here on their site:

Please find below a statement on behalf of Witney Town Council.
The allotments have been administered by the Allotment Association since 2012. The Town Council no longer has any involvement in the day to running of the allotments or in tenancy agreements and we do not hold waiting lists.
Obviously a tenancy agreement is in place between the WAA & the gentleman and a set of rules to govern it. Following the rallying of the community to help him cultivate his allotment we understand that the WAA have agreed he can keep half a plot which will be more manageable for this gentleman.
A small group of volunteers have come forward to offer to help maintain the allotment which is brilliant news. Witney has a great community spirit and people who are often able and willing to help.
Kind regards

Pat and his allotment featured prominently on tonight's The One Show on BBC1. I doubt the Allotment Association will repeat their attempt to evict him. :)

Thank you all for your wonderful support. The response has been overwhelming, and people near and far have been so kind and generous. The Oxfordshire cadets have pledged continuing support we have children involved to learn about nature and cultivation - a genuine good news story of community spirit. Yesterday we received a letter from a family in Holland containing sunflower seeds to brighten up his patch. And this morning another allotment holder on the Newland allotments happened to mention that his father also served with 4 Commando. I don't think the Allotment committee will be bothering dad again!
