I think the officer sat on the canon is Lt (later Major) The Hon Raymond Thomas Addington MC.

We have two officers with the surname Rose listed in the No.5 Commando nominal roll -
Lt John (Dopey) Rose,
Capt Kenneth W Rose

There is a Capt Patterson, RAMC, listed as a MO in No.5 Commando.
