Pete Rogers suggested that we had a forum for the War Diaries - I thought this an excellent idea and so I have started it off with transcripts from 1 SS Brigade from around D-Day - June 44.

If anyone has transcripts of war diaries that they'd like to share please add them to the forum.

If you can follow the same format as I have used for the title - it will make it easier for others to identify quickly.

Also if you know the department code (WO or DEFE etc.) please include that and the source (National Archives) in the text.

This link to National Archives should be of use to those conducting research:

Great idea.
Does anyone have access to No. 4 Commando War Diaries from November 1944 up the end of hostilities in May 1945 ?

Mine go up to August '45

Make that September. The latter 2 sheets are extra bits of info about ceremonies, who went where, etc.

I've shared my 'goodies' with Bill - sent him the disc - if I knew how to upload it all onto this site, I'd do it.

I'd never realised I could send an extract of it by email until I did so with Jaki. Amazing! :)
