I am looking for information on V. G. Kokhuis. He was conscripted in 1939, escaped to England via France, trained in Scotland, went on a raid to Noordwijk aan Zee in 1942, went to India in 1943 and then I do not know what happened to him until after the war. He apparently knew my father well.

Hi Rijocy3
There is some information and a photo of him ,within the picture gallery-commandos in ww2 - 10IA Commando - 2 Dutch troop.
He is shown as a corporal ,wearing the crossed swords of a PT instructor.
Further it explains he was attached to the 82 American airborne for Market Garden at Nijmegen, and later wounded during
the landings on the island of Walcheren.
Hope this helps

Hi!
I have just sent you an email with the email address of the son of Val Kokhuis, Mike. He lives in South Africa and he might be able to answer your question(s). Mike is a former Commando as well.
All the best.
Jack

Hi,
although I am not a veteran I thought you might be interested.
I am a niece of his last partner and if you like I can pass on any mail or questions you may have to her or to his children living in the netherlands.
Mr Val G. Kokhuis has sadly passed away on 21st of March 2004 in Haarlem, Netherlands.
with respect to you all
Nicole
