It is with deep sadness that I have to inform you of the death of my friend Idris Jones of No 1 commando, Idris died in the early hours of Tuesday the 18th Febuary.
Although I had only known Idris for a relatively short period of time (5 years) I know that I will miss him for the rest of my life. He was extremely generous and always gave me and my wife Sue a very warm welcome whenever we visited him, on one of these visits he gave me his Green Beret that he had carried with him in both North Africa and Burma, I will treasure it forever.
Our thoughts are with his familly especially his wife and daughter, rest in peace Idris.
Your friends Andy and Sue.

Andy, I'll be setting off for the funeral later on this morning(thanks for the call), managed to contact his daughter late last night, will pass on your, and his extended Commando family's deepest sympathy. Like yourself It was with great sadness that I received the news of Idris, having visited him only four weeks ago, although a bit frail he was still as ever eager to talk.

Sorry to hear this Andy.........I never met Idris but his other comrades that I did know spoke highly of him and mentioned him often. Our condolences to his family and our best wishes to you and yours at this sad time.
Sleep well Idris.
