Whilst normally such posts reflect more sombre topics such as a death, or an anniversary of a raid, I thought members may wish to be reminded of this article about a boxing tournament that took place on the 31st July 1941 whilst 2 Commando were billeted in Dumfries. The event took place in the Town hall at Lockerbie. The referee was Lt Colonel Charles Newman, OC No.2 Commando, who 8 months later would lead his men into action at St Nazaire on Operation Chariot :
