Thinking of him today ... thank you, Mr Wells.

If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Sheila, the daughter of 'Pat' Wells, in Fort William at the weekend.

She told me about her dad being on the Winchester photograph and that he was the only one with his arms crossed in the middle. I've looked and he must be 246 on the numbered version. Sheila has no memories of her dad but he did get to see her and hold her in his arms.

Unfortunately, Sheila and Scott are not online but I'm able to reach them via their daughter. They'll appreciate their dad/grandad being remembered on this Forum.

If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.

My mum and her Mum were great friends. Both met the Queen Mum in 1952 at the unveiling of the Spean Bridge memorial.

Best wishes.

Bill

How wonderful!

I received a letter from Sheila this morning - along with my first Christmas Card! She said they'd sent photos off to you, Pete, but weren't sure they'd scanned them properly ... they're marvellous!

How lovely to have those on here for all to see. Marvellous!
