A first pattern FS knife, This particular knife came not from a commando but from a local farmer who was an Auxilliary, Churchills secret army. John.

That look like a nice example.

It's even got the slash in the scabbard for the button fasten above the hilt.

I had no idea that the Auxiliary Units were issued with FS knives. I remember reading the book about them in the 1970's when the archives were released under the 30 year rule. Prior to that, nobody knew about them. Every man kept the secret, not a word was said about their activities. Estimated life span after the German occupation was two weeks ! Brave men indeed.

When the SAS needed reinforcements end 1943 beginning 1944 they got a huge number of volunteers recruits from aux units. Ideal candidates as they were already well trained in clandestine war fare.
