Just received an email from Genes Reunited - this information may be useful to some...

Search war records

We've just launched WW1 and WW2 death records for England and Wales on Genes Reunited. You can discover ranks, units, vessels and military numbers for those who served and died in the Army, Navy and RAF.
Search war records

Apparently you can do a search but to view records you have to buy 'credits' (£5 for 50 credits)

Nic,

I have looked at this site also. I think that they offer a sound range of ideas but I also think it might be a bit expensive if one was to become 'over-involved'.

P.S. Nevertheless, it could be a good outlet for specific research.

Commandos never die, they go elsewhere and 're-group'!

Harry,
As a test I did a search for Pte Les Peach (one on the commandos that I'm campaigning for).

Initial search came up with two entries for L A B Peach, date of death 1944.

Of course, if I wanted more details I would have to pay by using 'credits' but it was a useful test nevertheless...
