MY FATHER ARTHUR MAPPLEBECK ALSO USE TO BOX WHILST IN THE COMMANDOS
HE DIED IN FEB 1980 AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS
I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL PHOTOS IN THE GALLERY OF HIM
AND HE IS MENTIONED IN A BOOK WRITTEN BY ? YOUNG
AND NOW MY INTEREST HAS GROWN.

For the benefit of members Sue has made contact with me via pm with the details of the photos where she has identified her father Arthur Mapplebeck. I have now updated all the photos so a gallery search on his name will result in those being shown. Don't forget to click the box next to the Gallery Core Results to show all the photos that the search has found. Additionally Arthur is on a Boxing Tournament Card taking part in an inter troop Milling contest in 1942. He is indeed mentioned in Peter Young's book Storm from the Sea during No.3 Commandos actions at Vaagso and Agnone. Sue has also identified him in the front row of this photo:
