Hi All

Below is an example of a fairly early example of the now familiar 'Commando Trained' dagger badge.

Has anyone any photo evidence of this badge being worn by the early 'Army' commando units or was this brought in by the RM Commando units and then adopted by all commando units? c1943

John

This was introduced late war to differentiate commandos from the other combined operations personnel, there is a thread here which Ted Land quotes the suggested introduction of the badge from a national archives document:

For information, the example you have posted is a postwar/repro example I believe

cheers

Hello Paul

Thanks for that. I got this one from a RM Commando who served in 1952......so yep post war.

Thanks also for the ID on the Belgian Badge. Are there many repros of them about?

Hi John

I'm not aware of any repros, it's quite a common badge though and not expensive, I have one in my collection:

The forgers, sorry 'reproducers for the re-enactment market' tend to target the high value badges!
