I just noticed this book

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Commando-Pocket-Book-1940-1945/dp/1844861597/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1351150207&sr=8-2-fkmr2

This pocket-book draws on authentic training manuals, lecture notes, course literature and other material from the commando schools to give a real insight into this highly specialized fighting unit

May be a nice Christmas present.

By way of disclosure, I'm in no way financially connected to this book and interested readers should shop around for the best deals.

Just finished reading my copy. Not a bad little book for the price. But no match for the genuine training manuals.

The pocket book is an interesting read, lots of background detail. Its basically reprints of WW2 commando manuals, with a nice cover.

I'm waiting for the paperback version of the SAS war diary to come out ;-)
