Service records may contain names of ships. You can enter the ship's name into this website

http://www.convoyweb.org.uk/extras/index.html?src.php~exmain

It will then give you the national archive's reference number

eg
"EMPRESS OF AUSTRALIA" (British) would be held in reference BT 389/12


You then get a link to the national archives where you can obtain for about £4 a scan of the ships movement records.
