In the Photo Gallery Nominal Rolls albums there are now copies of the lists issued by the Commando Association in the 1970s of members with whom they had lost contact with. There are almost 2,500 names of Commandos and the respective unit they were attached to. Thanks to Nick for converting the paper editions to a PDF format for the gallery.

Thanks for publishing these list, for beginners like me they help build up info on each of the commando rosters.

These older Commando Association newsletters and the like have good information.I spend about 6 hours a month just x referencing

the earlier obituaries against unit roster, just reach No 60/ March 1975.

A big thank you

Graham

Hi
In the above lists it shows that some commando's were at HOC.
Question is, are those named , trained cdo awaiting units or are they staff at HOC.

Many thanks
Graham.

Graham,

They were qualified commandos having earned the Green Beret.
So they could have been:

Staff,
Experienced Commandos recovering from wounds etc. and rebuilding their strength and stamina,
Newly qualified awaiting drafting to an operational Cdo Unit.

Thanks Nic for the answer, what was the establishment of the organisation, and did it hold both Army and Royal Marines commandos, and roughly how many were held at any one time.

Thanks
Graham
