Hi All

Just got hold of this example.

It seems to be a genuine WW2 3rd pattern but plated later.

The wieght is correct and so is the dimensions and pommel nut...............can't tie down the mfg's ..........anyone know or seen one before.

regards

john M

John,

From the photos it looks like there no markings on either the grip or cross guard, can you confirm if there are any stamps? Good looking knife, very clean.

Hi Vlewis

No there are no marks on the cross guard or the grip.
I was hoping there was a number on the grip 1-4 but none are present.

The plating is of very high quality and I wondered weather this might have obscured any marks.
The pommel nut definately looks like a WW2 one..........but the shamfering of the handle near the nut looks unfamiliar.

A bit of an ennigma

Thanks and regards

John M

John,

Your knife has a pommel matching the middle example in the photo

As you mentioned, according to reference there were 1 to 4 markings on the handle presumably from each of the 4 makers of the handle although apparently there were numerous makers of the blades and finishing on the 3rd pattern

I'm sure you've had a good look on the internet at some of the collector sites, there's a lot of info about all aspects of the knife.

Good luck

Cheers

Thanks for the photo.

Yes I think it is WW2....probably plated later.

I've heard of presentation knives being plated..........but I would've expected an inscription of some kind.

ah well......an Oddity.

Thanks and regards
