Today is the 70th Anniversary of the St Nazaire raid. Members from the CVA, the St Nazaire Society, and many other representative groups are in France to commemorate this combined Commando and Royal Navy operation in which so many lost their lives.

We will remember them

The local French newspaper published a short report and added a film, its poor quality but wait until the very end when there are close ups of 4 veterans

and another photo from the same paper

I have a lot of pictures, which I'll send to Geoff or Pete to make up an album on the Photo Gallery once I'm back on a 'proper' computer in the UK, but here's one with the charioteers to be getting on with. Bob Montgomery is slightly obscured unfortunately. It was a very moving occasion. Cheers, Mark (sent via mobile phone)

a good report on BBC News last night showed Billy Moore & Harold Nethersole.

Billy can be seen in Mark's (MBrockway) photo - stood to attention to the right of Major General Corran Purdon, with Harold (seated) just visible to Billy's right.

72 years ago this week Operation Chariot took place. They are still remembered and not just by ourselves. Here is a link to a mess dinner at HMS Sultan where they set a 'Fallen comrades' place setting in memory.
