Right,

I'm not not long in from having a few wets with my mates and with all nights out, a few random ideas have been thrown in to the pot. One such act of randomness is to convert my garage in to a bar! Now, this is not to be any old bar, this is to be a gentlemans retreat, themed on a highland lodge with a Commando twist.

Stags heads, Chesterfield seats and woodburning fireplaces have all been discussed!!! I need somewhere to hang my memorabilia of course!

Now most of my oppo's are either ex Royal Marines or those who have an interest in Commando's or Armed Forces. The question is, what to call such a place. I would like it be something that has a Commando theme without being too 'In your face' and maybe only understood by those who have an understanding of the Commando's. Lovat Lodge for example. Now 'Cabbage Patch' was put forward by one of my drinking partners, and I have to say, I did laugh. For an ex-Para, thats actually quite witty!!! But as the future publican, it's a no! 'Stag and Dagger' & 'Cloak & Dagger' were also put forward for possibilities.

Does anyone have any other ideas for a name?

Perhaps 'The Green Beret' is too obvious ?

Peter, there is a precedent for using that name as a place of socialising for Commandos !!!

If anyone knows where this might have been please let us known

I may not have got my arithmetic quite right and i may well have have missed out a few units so forgive me if i have but if we add the Army Commandos No's 1 to 12 also 14, 30 and 62, add the Middle East Commando No's 50, 51, and 52. the Royal Naval Commando and No's 40 to 48 of the Royal Marines and also the RAF Servicing Commando we get a total of thirty so why not 'The Thirty Bob' or the 'Thirsty Thirty'? If there are other units to add just adjust accordingly, this would cover all the units and still meet the criteria of those in the know and not being too obvious.
