Here are some wonderful photos taken of the French Commandos during their time in Criccieth.
It is well known that commandos relied very much on their landladies and they, in turn, doted on their 'boys'.
Here in Wales the locals were, at first, a little defensive when they heard that they were to have 'soldiers' billeted with them - but once they learned that it was were to be French commandos they welcomed them with open arms.
Thanks to Noel Rabouhans for the use of this photo which shows Raymond Rabouhans (right), Rene Taverne (centre) and unidentified Commando (left) with local Criccieth ladies and children

Thanks to Heulwen Kennedy for these two, rare, photos showing commandos with their devoted landladies.
Pierre Boccador with his landlady at his billet (presently the B &B Glyn-y-Coed)
Commando Joseph (surname not known - may be Fernande) with his landladies at Penrhyn House, Mona Terrace
