Is there anyone who could help with deciphering my GF's service records?
There are numerous abbreviations, marks, etc which I am unaware as to their meaning and so would love so assistance.

Am happy to post the jpeg snapshot of his records.

Mark,
I'd be pleased to help if I can - when I received my father's Records the Army Historical Disclosures had included a list of useful abbreviations.
A lot of these abbreviations refer to Regts and Corps so there are 8 A4 size double sided pages which is probably too much to reproduce here but throw some at me and I'll see what I can come up with...

Regards,
Nick

Mark,

I thought I'd add some of the, perhaps, more obscure abbreviations here to see if it helps at all

L.I.A.P.= Leave in Addition to Python.
PYTHON was the code name for the posting home of troops that had done four years or more abroad and were due for home posting, whereas LIAP was leave that was now being given to those who had only done two years and nine months overseas service.

AF = Army Form
CMF = Central Mediterraenian Force
COY = Company
CTBA = Ceased to be Attached
CTBE = Ceased to be Entitled
DNK = Destination not known
DOE = Duration of Engagement
DOW/ DW = Duration of War
FARELF = Far East Land Force
GH = General Hospital
HS = Holding Strength
LTR = Long Term reserve
LWOP = Leave without pay
RFN/ Rfn = Rifleman (equivalent to Private)
RDD = Reception & Discharge Depot
RHE = Return to Home Establishment
TOS = Taken on Strength
SOS = Struck off Strength
W (as in W/Sgt) = War Substantive
W/S = War Substantive

wef = with effect from

Hope these are of help?

Cheers,
Nick
