This year we'll be meeting up at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas, Staffordshire for the Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25th June and for the CVA Summer Service on Sunday 26th June.

Entry to the National Arboretum is free and there is usually a free 'Park & Ride' from the overflow car park.

Hi Nic
I would like to ask a favour of anyone who may be attending the service.
Last year I purchased a" paver stone" in memory of my Dad and if anybody could take some pictures for me ( lots of pictures ) It would be greatly appreciated.
As its only a month away I thought I would post this now...pm me for my email address of where to send the pictures . Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Also , this may belong in a separate thread but just a heads up, the Miller clan , me my two brothers and my sister are booked for Ft.William Nov 11 , 12 , 13 this year , look forward to meeting many of you there .

I should also add that the stone is in the name V.W. Miller .... thanks

Hi Lindsay,
Yes of course I'll get the photos for you - it'll be my pleasure.

I look forward to seeing the Millers at FW too.

Cheers,
Nick

Nick,
Could I be very cheeky and ask if you could also take a photo of my father's paver ? As I live in the Isle of Man I haven't been able to get across to see it yet.

Peter,
Again, it would be a pleasure.

But I thoroughly recommend a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum next time you come over to the mainland.

June: Commando Summer Service at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas

Our summer pilgrimage to our very own Commando Memorial at Alrewas (unveiled in July 2007 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh) will take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June 2011. This years events will be preceded by a fundraising event on Friday 24 June in aid of injured soldiers. 'Eyes Front', headed up by Isla St Clair and Patrick King, is a wonderful show of film and pictures to music and will be held at the Cooper College Performance Hall in Bicester Oxfordshire. All monies raised will go to assist Cpl Simon Vaughan (29 Commando Regt RA) and Pte Stringer (23 Pioneer Regt) both horrifically injured by IEDs whilst serving in Afghanistan. Tickets are on sale now from the National Secretary (email: [email protected]) and cost only £10. The usual Armed Forces Day events on the Saturday at the National Memorial Arboretum will be followed by a dinner back at the hotel (TBC) and the Sunday Service by the Commando Memorial will proceed at 1000hrs. More to follow. Hotel bookings can be made with Fred Davies on 07980754478.

Please be aware that the 'Eyes Front' event on Friday 24 June has now been CANCELLED due to unforseen circumstances.
