James Innes, No3 Cdo

Mary Russell is looking for information regarding her father, James Innes and the Battle of Termoli.

He was shot twice in the leg and apparently was the only one left out of a seven man unit. He was evacuated to North Africa and then home. I don't know if he saw any further action.

His name was James Innes, DOB 10 March 1915; Army No 14317293.
He was a Seaforth Highlander.

I believe he was originally in 11 Cdo 10 troop. Jess Taylor provided a picture of the troop to me which I posted a little while back. Can you check and see if she can confirm this from the photo:

Hi Pete,

I'm still waiting to hear from Mary but, in the meantime, I've studied both photos closely and I'm certainly not convinced that the J Innes (number 6 on the No11 Cdo photo) is the same person as the James Innes on the Achnacarry photo...

Indeed I think that number 9 (marked as D. Rutherford) on the No11 Cdo photo, has many more comparable features, so much so that I'd almost be prepared to say that he could, at a push, be James Innes - although his face is in the deep shadow of his Tam.

See below the information from Sir Tommy Macpherson's No.10 Troop note book, as you can see this J Innes has a different parent unit and regimental number than the J Innes that Mary is looking for.
