It is with much sadness that I inform of the passing of a fellow Commando and CVA member, Douglas Ewart Harris MC formerly of No 1 Commando.

Douglas died in his home in Victoria, Australia in June 2010 after a battle with lung cancer.

Our thoughts are with his daughter Bronwyn and their family.

Rest in Peace Douglas.

DOUGLAS EWART HARRIS

Lt. Douglas Ewart Harris (324910)
By Mervyn Douglas Harris
Looking for "Doug" ( South Wales Borderers-Military Cross ) He commanded 11 platoon "B" company, 2/5 Queens Royal Regiment 1944/45, and took part in all actions from The Menate Landings to the fighting at the approaches to Portoverrara where he was seriously wounded.
He married Isabella Simpson from Dundee Scotland in 1943
I believe he eventually emigrated to Australia.
ANY info on my fathers whereabouts now will be very welcome indeed.

Dear Mervyn,
As far as our records go, I do not believe that your father has ever contacted us since the end of WW2.
The option may be to find a web site based in Australia which links up former soldiers - I think they called it the Return Servicemens League which is their equivalent of the Royal British Legion.
OR
Pose the question to the Salvation Army who are good at finding lost relatives.
