CSM George Malcolm MM 40 RM Commando was killed in action on the 23rd January 1944. For his gallantry on the day preceding his death he had been recommended for the award of the Military Medal which was later approved by the King. The citation can be read here:

When the danger is passed and all things righted, God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted.
