Only 50 more grave visits needed to ensure that we have a photo of the grave of all WW2 Commando war graves in the UK

If anyone lives in or near, or visits, any of the following locations can they please check the cemetery shown , the condition of the grave and headstone, and take a nice photo of the headstone for our War Graves album. The photo can then either be posted here with details or emailed to me at my email address below.

nb. UK Cemeteries where visits are required shown in bold black. Cemeteries where visits have been made will show Now in Gallery.

Search our gallery by clicking HERE in advance of your visit to ensure we have not recently received a photo of a particular grave. There you will see the war graves albums for the UK and other countries.

I can do the Fort William (Glen Nevis) cemetry - I'll pass the cemetery on my way to my accommodation for the Remembrance Weekend.

I can also do LLANGUNNOR (ST. Cynnwr) - but not until the new year.

Thanks guys rather than reply individually, I will mark those cemeteries with your name as and when people volunteer. There is no deadline so as and when you can make it.

Regards

Pete

I recently had an email from someone who had discovered on our site the photo of the grave in France of a relative of theirs.

A big thank you. Lionel Underwood, Lance Corporal of 3 Commando was my uncle, my mothers brother. Thanks to you and your friends, I have finally seen where he lies, thanks to the picture you have posted. I may not have met my uncle but his memory still lives on, i have no pictures of Lionel or know much about his short blessed life but ive always known about him and am just overwhelmed because ive seen his grave. Thank you so much. To your friends in the Commandos present and past, a debt that cant be repaid, will always be remembered

If anyone is passing or likely to be near any of the cemetries above, or if you are going abroad and may be near a CWGC cemetery, please contact me. I can provide you with any details required.

That's brilliant.

Photo attached of Pte Stickley's grave.
Please note that it is in the War Graves section of Hove New Cemetery and not in section 6 as mentioned previously.
As you can see, his father was killed at Dunkirk in 1940 and then he enlisted and died in 1945. How sad is that ?
