I am trying to find any information on Marine Brooksby who served in the commandos during WW2. I am married to his grand daughter and as an ex-serviceman myslf am deeply interested in all his ww2 service. Any help would be very gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Martin
The first thing she should do is apply for his Service Record which should at least say what RM Commando he served with (there were 8 in WW2) . His records will be held by the RN. How to apply can be found here :
http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/AboutDefence/CorporatePublications/PersonnelPublications/ServiceRecords/RequestFormsForServicePersonnelDetailsRoyalNavyroyalMarines.htm
You may wish to try and contact them by phone first . Their address is
RN Disclosure Cell, Room 48, West Battery, Whale Island, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO2 8DX ( I do not have their tel no.)
Regards
Pete
