The dear wife of the late Pip Williams has asked me to find out who the Commando is standing in the attached photo. The photo was recently published in Stuart Allen's Commando Country and the lady is adamant that it could be her late husband Pip.

Stuart Allan has given the names of the other two gentleman as Bill Manford and Jerry Follet (poss a Major in 5 Cdo). On the reverse of the photo it has 'The Colonel'.

Any ideas?

When a photo is included in a newspaper or book etc. it is converted to an image made up of dots - I have tried to 'filter' out these dots to make the image clearer...

We now have a cross reference confirming that there was a Capt Bill Mansford who was OC 4 Troop, No5 Cdo in 1942.

I know this doesn't answer the original question but it adds credence to Gerry Follet being from No5.
