Hi,

I am looking for any information at all on my partners grandfather, we have got part of his service records and some. Her mother did have his copy of the book written by the C/O about the unit but it seems to have disappeared along with a photo album that she said he had of his days in the unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan

Welcome to the CVA. A copy of the booklet you refer to is held at the Imperial War Museum :

The story of 46 Commando, Royal Marines by Captain P.K.W. Johnson.

Sadly the 46 Commando RM retired association has now stood down. I have been in touch with one former member who was a Corporal in Z troop of 46 RM Commando - Leonard Tildsley, but unfortunately he does not recall Cpl Richard Gough. You could also try contacting the Royal Marines Regimental Museum:
http://www.royalmarinesmuseum.co.uk/index2.html

If your partner has any photos of Cpl. Gough from his RM Commando days or at post war services or events we would welcome the opportunity of displaying them in our gallery if given permssion. I can assist you with posting them if needed. At the present time we only have 2 photos of 46 RM Commandos sadly both killed in action. Leonard is going to try and get some more to me but this may take some time.

Finally good luck with your search

Thanks for the information,

We have got a photograph from his training days , and there may be some floating around from some of the reunions. I will get them scanned as soon as we can find them.

Many thanks,

Hi Chris

As this forum message relates to another man I will respond on your original message that you created to avoid confusion, and ask that all replies are included on there rather than here, unless they specifically relate to the subject of this one - Corporal Richard Gough
