Sgt D.H. Martin 1Troop 4 Commando

I'm trying to find any info on Sgt D.H. Martin of 1 tp 4 commando.
I know (from records) he was at Walcheren in 44, Other than that I have no further info.
I would be grateful for any info however small.

Thanks for getting back to me by private message. The only information I have been able to get is that his first name was Dennis (not 100% on that). He was in one of the Police intakes of 1942. He was at D Day as well as Walcheren. He passed away on the 4th April 2000. He has a nephew from Norfolk whose details I understand you already have. I hope someone else can provide you more information

His first name was indeed Don. Here is part of a message sent to the CVA from his nephew John Martin. John informs us that his uncle died in 2000.

Sgt Donald Hugh Martin of 1 Troop (and formerly C Troop) 4 Cdo. He was part of the first police intake into the Commandos in 1942. The photograph was taken by Lt Peter King MC outside a ruined church in Zoutelande, Holland on about 4th November 1944 following the successful assault on Flushing some days before. My uncle was later mentioned in despatches for his part in a small-scale raid on the island of Schouwen. For his role in leading the raid, Lt King was awarded the MC. During this time, 4 Cdo was under the command of Lt Col Robert Dawson DSO.

Well, what a result!
I recently acquired a Pattern 1 F-S knife which was reportedly owned by Sgt D.H Martin 4 Cdo.
I was keen to trace any info about it's owner, since posting this request for info I have been able to speak with J. Martin the nephew of Sgt Martin and he informed me that although it was indeed his knife, it was not his actual "issue" knife.
Regardless I am thrilled to have found so much info in such a small time frame.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped on this forum, and am amazed at such a positive result!
