Phil,

I thought you said "when you have a few spare minutes ..."

Done some, but have been a bit busy - even had to go to Mablethorpe the other day!
Hope to have it back to you in a couple of days.

Nick

No I didn't dare - that was only 40 years ago and, as I haven't lost any of my youthful good looks, I was concerned that the Butlins Recaps (ooops - I meant Redcoats!) might still recognise me !

My first operational station was RAF Scampton - working on the Vulcan...
We used to disperse to Finningley on exercise.
Happy days.

I'm a 'Friend' of XH558 on FB - it's bloomin' great that she's still flying.

Hi Phil,
Here as promised pages 8 & 9 of your grandfather's recods.
There were a couple of entries that weren't in chronological order so I've put them into the correct sequence so it's easier to read & understand.

[Occurances were added to forms (slips of paper) which were then sent back to HQ to be entered onto the individual's records. Often many slips pertaining to an individual would be sent back at one time, sometimes they may be sent by different 'routes' and arrive at different times... The clerks then had to compile these slips and add them to the 'main' records. Hence it was quite common for entries to be lost or to be added out of sequence]

Hope this is useful and helps to answer some more questions. This is now a basic frame on which to build the bigger picture...

Hi Phil,
It really is my pleasure, I enjoy going through the records and trying to piece things together and then to be able to help others is an absolute bonus...

A bit of research on 2nd Echelon and MNBDO II (2nd Ech became MNBDO II) will give you more info - hope you enjoy unravelling it all as much as I do.
