I've found this topic fascinating - so glad that you've found so much out about your uncle.

I've been promoted to Sergeant but I, too, would like to go back to being a Lance Corporal ... if possible ... that's what rank my dad held.

If I have praised my comrades too highly I make no apology, for they were beyond all praise.

Great news Matthew, thanks for sharing. Of course now you have further clues to follow up eg who was Lt. Dick Morgan, what happened to him etc. Also Where did your uncle spend time as a POW ? Perhaps German records still exist of his captivity.

Have you been to St. Nazaire ? If not, a trip followed by a report anc photos to the forums might be in order !

We look forward to hearing more of William C. Day.

Happy new year everyone.

PS Did you ask James Dorrian when "Turned towards the sun" is available ?
I found an estimated date on this site http://www.filmdates.co.uk/films/4843-turned-towards-the-sun/ of "January-April 2013" which feels like the site doesn't really know.

Lieutenant Richard Morgan was in No.2 Commando 2 troop and his photo can be found here:
