These were my Dad's badges. He fought at Salerno and was in the SS Signal Troop hence the flashes. I'm not sure but believe he was in support of 2 Commando.

If you look at the heading on the pages, the title of the book is revealed. I do not own this book, it a scan from a friends book that I thought might be useful for reference here.
With no direspect intended to the author some of the photos in this book are of reproduction insignia so I have been told by a friend. If you dont know what your doing I wouldnt suggest you pay a lot of money for these items, of course for a few pounds from a jumble sale its worth the risk. These are valuable badges and all the cloth stuff is now being reproduced in Pakistan for the Western market.

the picture is taken from Allied Special forces badges 1939-48 by Peter Taylor. The RRP is £19.95 but you can pick them up on ebay for £6 upto £20. its a great book.
G,Day, I have recently purchased a beret badge with a dagger pointed downwards. Either side of the handle is a large S. Across the top is written
COMMANDO in a semicircle. Seller stated that it was made from silver.
Can anyone shed some light on its history or as to who was entitled to wear it. Regards to all (new chum) Bill CDO Aust
I believe the cap badge similar to the one in my picture may be an officers badge of 2 Commando but I can't be sure. If it is made of silver I think it may have been custom made. If you can get a picture of it uploaded I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable members on this forum will be able to shed more light on the subject.

Hi the badge with commando across the top is an association cap badge and i believe it came out in the 60s. one of the ways which is a good indicator thats it could be real is if its got a slider. If you bend it if it springs back into position its good, cheap copies stay in the position you bent it! hope this helps
