Landing Ships Infantry - Queen Emma and Princess Beatrix

These two ships are continually mentioned by Commando Veterans as conveying them on their various journeys across the globe. It is with that in mind that I post this link to Peter Lee's history of the ships. Throughout the war they safely conveyed so many thousands of soldiers to and from different theatres of war. At the end of the article there is a section on their Battle Honours and also on the awards to the crew of both ships.

Wow, those two ships certainly had a busy war. I'm surprised they both survived. An incredibly interesting story.

Landing Craft etc, I work once a month for a week in a Power Station In Essex, I was talking to my colleague about The Commandos and the various raids and trying to explain Combined Ops and what that entailed. He then told me his Father was in the Navy and a couple of days later he brought some photos in, these photos showed his Father on board a landing craft landing Commandos onto various beaches etc; I will try and download the pics onto the site, but I am never to successful, failing that I will send them on.
