It is with much deep regret and sadness that I inform you of the passing of Ronald Young, known by everyone as Ken. Ken passed away yesterday at the home of Marc and Kate Bridger who had been caring for him over many years. Marc and Kate Bridger discovered the CVA only a few months ago and informed Ken. Although bedridden Ken was very much mentally alert and, with the help of Marc and Kate, shared some of his memories with us recently in the form of a recorded interview, a transcript of which can be found on this link, along with some photos.

Here is an album I created previously with details and pictures of Ken:

Ken served with No.9 Commando during the war, joining No.4 Commando in Germany for a period, in the immediate aftermath of the war. He only recently became a member of the CVA.

A date has not been set yet for the funeral which will likely take place in the Epping, Essex area. Marc and Kate have asked if there could be some form of Commando representation there and I have passed that onto Geoff Murray. The details of the funeral will be posted when known for the benefit of any CVA members living nearby who may wish to attend.

Rest in peace Ken.

I have received the following information from Marc and Kate Bridger regarding the funeral arrangements for Ken. If anyone is able to attend please message me so i can informMarc and Kate. Otherwise I hope we can grant Ken's wish of "some flowers".:

The funeral date is 8th January at Parndon Wood crematorium at 15:30.

Ken wrote a letter in 2004 with his wishes on the matter of a funeral and in it he says "some flowers if you please". If anyone wants to send any flowers the undertakers are Stuart Poulton. The address is Stuart Poulton House, 50 High Road, North Weald Bassett, Epping, Essex, CM16 6BU. The email contact there : [email protected].
Their website is http://www.poultonfunerals.com/index.php?f=data_home&a=0

Ken has asked for a cremation and for his ashes to be scattered next to Doris. The address etc of the crematorium is as follows:
Parndon Wood Crematorium & Cemetery, Parndon Wood Road, Harlow, Essex, CM19 4SF. Email: [email protected]
